It is important to Humes Pipeline system because it is their only way to distribute the products they manufactured on time to different construction projects of Fletcher Building. I believe that Humes Pipeline have their own transport for delivery because it is one of the important key factor in logistic. Humes practice the Just-in-Time (JIT) concept for a company to be profitable. Management will see to it that the products delivered will arrived at its destination as specified on the contract. To do that, management will check the movement of the product delivered from the time it leaves the factory to its arrival to its destination. Humes will tackle the issues on communication, freight, customs and movement of the product itself. With proper coordination it will be a cost savings to the company and customer satisfaction. Other factors to consider for transportation is the security of the product, by taking insurance policy to cover the product in case of damage, lost, or stolen. Inventory, for me Inventory plays a very important in achieving an integrated supply chain strategy for Humes Pipeline System s. Inventory not only includes inventories of their raw materials but also inventories of their finished products. Inventory procurement of raw materials within the supply chain plays a very important role because it shows reliability and availability of materials as needed. Finished product of Humes will be sold either commercially or on retail. Technology. Humes as part of the supply chain system will use an advance technology that will be able to control their inventory within the organisation, a software that helps them manage inventory efficiently. They can also implement high tech security system that will such as 24 hours CCTV cameras. Humes as part of the supply chain will also have a uniform accounting system so that financial statements and balance sheets will be easily monitored by the top management. Customer expectation. Humes must establish and maintain good customer relationship externally and internally. Good relationship internally will create a harmonious rel ationship and easy flow of supply and demand. When I say internal, it means relationship between the organizational system itself. And also, Customer always expect quality and reliable product from their supplier. By maintaining customer satisfaction, there will a continuous order of the products. Customer satisfaction means providing them reliable and quality product, outbound logistics by checking the whereabouts of the products, answer queries, all these minor details will give customer satisfaction. There is an elaborate pathophysiology associated with the disease that has been studied widely studied. A number of inflammatory cells are associated with COPD including CD8+, T-lymphocytes, B-cells, and macrophages. When activated by some foreign particles inflammatory cascades are activated in these cells eventually producing inflammatory mediators, cytokines, chemokines and chemoattractants such as interferon gamma, tumour necrosis factor-alpha, fibrinogen, C-reactive protein, matrix metalloproteinases and so on (Zakynthinos, Daniil, Papanikolaou Makris, 2011). These mediators sustain the inflammation inducing severed tissue damage to the lungs eventually hindering airflow. Further pathological changes can be medicated by imbalance in oxidant-antioxidant levels resulting in oxidative stress, which may lead to inactivation of antiproteases and surfactants, hyper secretion of mucus, sub-epithelial fibrosis, bronchoconstriction and membrane lipid peroxidation. There are three major clinical manifestations of the underlying cellular events. Elastic recoil pressure and movement of air in bronchioles primarily depend on elastin proteins, which undergo proteolysis in COPD patients. Consequently, air-flow in the lungs is reduced due to narrowing of the passage and air-trapping occurs. Prolonged inflammation causes enlargement of the mucus glands lining the inner walls of the lungs and disruption of the mucocilliary transport system responsible of clearing mucus from the airways, resulting cumulatively into blocking airflow due to the presence of excess mucus (Higginson, 2010). Further, narrowing of airways is caused by fibrotic remodelling, which increases airway resistance. Factors causing structural remodelling are build-up of scar tissue, peribronchial fibrosis and overproduction of epithelial cells lining the airways. Lastly, surface area of the alveoli is substantially reduced due to alveolar and bronchiolar epithelial cell apoptosis causing reduced gaseous exchange and disrupted ventilation-circulation, resembling histological features of Emphysema (Brashier Kodgule, 2012). Hypertension is the long-term chronic elevation of the blood pressure that may eventually result into organ damage and increased mortality. Major disorders caused due to hypertension are coronary heart disease, renal failure, and cerebro-vascular diseases. To study the pathophysiology behind hypertension we first look into the physiological mechanisms that control the blood pressure in human body. Normal blood pressure largely depends on the cardiac output and the peripheral vascular resistance of the small arterioles surrounded by smooth muscles. Prolonged concentration of the smooth muscles due to increased levels of intracellular calcium ion concentration may lead to thickening of the arterial walls causing irreversible rise in peripheral resistance. It has been postulated that initially hypertension is caused by increased cardiac output due increased sympathetic activity; consequently to compensate for increased pressure in the capillary bed peripheral resistance is increased. Re nin-angiotensin system is the most important endocrine system controlling blood pressure. In patients with hypertension there is a decreased sensitivity to the baroreceptors and the baroreflexes are disrupted to varied extensions suppression the effect of the renin-angiotensin system. Lastly, stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system can cause both constriction and dilatation of the arteriolar walls. Increased release of norepinephrine and increased peripheral sensitivity to the same has been widely observed in patients with hypertension. However, studies have shown that hypertension results from the interaction of sympatheti c and renin-angiotensin system with other related factors such as sodium and water retention and action of certain other hormones like eicosanoids, atrial natriuretic peptide, and nitric oxide and so on. (Safar O'Rourke, 2012) As a consequence of increased vascular stiffness and peripheral vascular resistance the load on the left ventricle is substantially increased causing left ventricular hypertrophy and diastolic dysfunction. Ventricular dystrophy may lead to severe cardiovascular disorders and sudden deaths in certain instances. Chronic hypertension often leads to myocardial infraction and myocardial ischemia which further disrupts normal functioning of the heart. Strokes are the most common clinical manifestations of chronic hypertension mostly due to thrombosis, thrombo-embolism and intracranial haemorrhage (Humbert, 2010). However, acute renal diseases are diagnosed in later stages of the hypertension and its progression is comparatively slower. Co-morbidity, Chronicity and Complexity Comorbidity is defined as the occurrence of two or more distinct disorders in a same patient either at the same time or in a certain sequential pattern. Chicano studies essays The daily political and social struggles of the Chicano movement in the 60s and 70s greatly impacted the forms of politics, education and civil rights for Chicanos all over the United States. However due to the changes that happened after the Chicano movement no longer do young Chicanos have a need for a demonstration or a protest. Thanks to the actions of others the civil rights of Chicanos and other minorities are now being protected by the government. The simple act of speaking up about a problem that needed to be addressed was their first step to changing the status quo. The formation of political action groups was the first step in bringing a serious problem to public eye to gain support. This is needed today for many important issues in our border community. As other parties framed their issues in a different way government agencies like the FBI and local police tried to strong arm the students, which had an impact but not enough to disintegrate the movement. Today civil rights for many Chicanos are the same and laws like the Equal Opportunity for Employment, which regulates the discrimination of minorities from race religion, age, or ethnicity. Standards for minimum wage and education have changed all over the united states as a result of the civil rights movement of the 60s and 70s. Living in a border community the integration of a majority of Chicanos in the schools is clearly seen and we are now seeing an enormous amount of young Chicanos graduating from a four year institution. Educated Chicanos are now part of our daily lives that are still fighting for help for Chicanos on the border. There are, however some issues that still need to be addressed here on the border. Issues of high school drop out rates being at an all time high here in Las Cruces.
